Design AI Education Seminar | 4 Major Launches & Expert Insights
Hosted by Tongji University D&I, gathering academic and industry wisdom to discuss the future of AI and design education.
Trends and Intersections: AI Reshaping Educational Paradigms
On July 25-26, 2025, the "Designing Artificial Intelligence Education Innovation Seminar" hosted by the College of Design and Innovation at Tongji University was successfully held. Tongji University Vice President Li Xiangning and Dean of the College of Design and Innovation Hu Fei delivered speeches, and Fan Ling, founder of Tezign, gave an opening presentation titled "Teaching and Practice of Design Artificial Intelligence."
Fan Ling proposed that through the study of "computability of creativity," the irrational aspects of design creativity can be enhanced. Education should embrace the exploratory spirit of the "other" and advocate for jointly advancing AI education innovation with students in practice. Experts and scholars from Fudan University, Jiaotong University, and Communication University of China conducted in-depth discussions on the interdisciplinary applications of AI in business, engineering, advertising, and other fields.
Major Release One: Textbook on Artificial Intelligence and Artistic Creation
Two new books, "Fundamentals of AI-Assisted Artistic Creation and Design Applications" and "Practical Applications," were released at the conference. As a key textbook in Tongji University's 14th Five-Year Plan, this set of books constructs a systematic knowledge framework from technical principles to creative transformation, demonstrating how AI tools assist artists and designers in optimizing processes.
Major Release Two: Design Artificial Intelligence Research Intelligent Agent
The laboratory released the "Design Artificial Intelligence Research Intelligent Agent" (sheji.tezign.com). This intelligent agent focuses on the needs of faculty and students in paper writing and project applications, providing intelligent assistance from topic trend analysis to interdisciplinary research opportunity discovery, combined with the logic of design disciplines.
Major Release Three: Makerthon Curriculum System
The Design Artificial Intelligence Laboratory launched a new teaching project called "Makerthon 101." Based on the philosophy that "only by doing can we create the future," it emphasizes teaching driven by real tasks. Currently, "Makerthon" has established deep cooperation with over 50 universities, benefiting more than 10,000 design practitioners and educators.
Construction and Resonance: Deep Interaction of Exhibition and Conference
Lou Yongqi, the leader of the design discipline at Tongji, emphasized in his closing remarks that education should maximize the release of human goodwill and potential. This seminar formed a strong response to the WAIC 2025 theme exhibition on "Computability of Creativity," showcasing the organic interaction of "industry-academia-ecology" in all dimensions.
