Economist Robert Solow once observed a phenomenon where, despite massive investments in information technology, macro-level productivity statistics did not show a corresponding significant increase in the 1970s and 1980s. Solow, a Nobel laureate in economics, referred to this finding as the 'Solow Paradox.'

At the WTCC 2026 West Coast International Technology Consumer Carnival theme forum that opened yesterday, Tezign founder and CEO, Professor Fan Ling from Tongji University, mentioned this paradox. In his view, value can only be truly released when enterprises redesign workflows and organizational methods around new technologies.

The theme forum, titled 'Understanding Humanity Anew in the AI Era,' was initiated by Tezign and co-hosted by Moso Space. The WTCC 2026 West Coast International Technology Consumer Carnival has been held for two consecutive years, becoming an AI + consumer technology event based in Xuhui, representing Shanghai, and facing the global market.

Wei Lan, Deputy District Mayor of Xuhui District, Shanghai, shared the district's practices and prospects in the aggregation of the artificial intelligence industry and the construction of an innovation ecosystem, emphasizing that technological innovation's transition to industrial application relies on the support of an innovative ecosystem and the traction of genuine enterprise needs.

Fan Ling drew an analogy between the individual use of AI by employees to enhance personal efficiency and the lack of synchronized growth in overall corporate performance, comparing it to the historical transformation of replacing steam engines with electric motors. 'The replacement of equipment takes a very short time, but it takes 30 years for factories to reconstruct the entire production process according to the logic of electric motors,' he said. In the current context, while enterprises can quickly deploy AI tools, completing a full organizational system reconstruction is challenging. The industry is currently in a gap phase of AI-native transformation, where AI transformation is not just a technical issue but also an organizational one.

As an industry unicorn established for 10 years, re-planning an organizational structure that adapts to the AI era is akin to 'breaking bones,' yet Tezign has actually done it. It is understood that Tezign has established a dual-track system of Pod + Community within the organization: Pod serves as a solid line, a highly cohesive and loosely coupled delivery unit responsible for business outcomes; Community serves as a dotted line, responsible for accumulating cross-Pod professional capabilities and context, helping everyone to continue growing. The two tracks operate in parallel, allowing the organization to have both execution power and growth potential.

In fact, what Fan Ling is exploring is a new paradigm that enables business transformation to become a virtuous and sustainable smart entity. For enterprises, Fan Ling mentioned that they should construct two world models. One is the subjective world model, which understands customer preferences, choice logic, and behavioral contradictions, grasping the subjective world of 'external people'; the other is the enterprise world model, used to accumulate internal processes, resource constraints, and decision consequences, understanding 'the internal self.' Based on these two world models, enterprises need to build long-term smart entities that can continuously enter workflows, systems, evaluations, and long-term operations.

He also stated that enterprises should not solely rely on third-party model services but should establish a self-controllable intelligent capability system, transitioning from 'rented intelligence' to building 'sovereign intelligence.' In his view, rented intelligence addresses single-point efficiency issues, but the enterprise's data assets, business context, and judgment experience cannot be accumulated accordingly, which are precisely the most difficult to replicate and the core sources of competitive advantage for enterprises. Building sovereign intelligence means that enterprises possess intelligent assets that can be accumulated, reused, and evolved—models are replaceable, data is controllable, and judgments are explainable, allowing intelligence to continuously appreciate with each real action, truly forming their own intelligent compounding.

The forum officially launched the Smart Transformation Co-construction Plan. This plan, initiated by Tezign, is open to universities, research institutions, enterprises, model and technology partners, and professional practitioners, aiming to conduct long-term research and practical verification around the real issues in enterprise smart transformation. The significance of smart transformation is not just to enable enterprises to access more intelligence but to help enterprises form their own intelligence: having their own judgment system, their own context system, and their own intelligent compounding. This is exactly what Tezign is doing.

The plan will focus on three core directions: understanding, judgment, action, and evolution, exploring how smart entities can more deeply understand real people, professional experiences, and enterprise contexts, how to engage in complex judgments without standard answers and establish reliable human-machine collaboration and evaluation methods, and how to continuously advance real work and improve based on action results. In terms of co-construction, joint research will be conducted around real industry problems, project experiments and verifications will be carried out in actual business, and evaluation standards, methodologies, and case collections will be jointly accumulated, with results output through research articles, industry reports, teaching cases, and other forms.
